Antrim is a county in Northern Ireland and belongs to the province of Ulster. It is situated in the northeast and covers an area of 2,844 km². It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean as well as the Irish Sea in the north & east and by Belfast Lough in the south. Its capital is Antrim city housing Antrim Castle and the "Witches Stone", a prehistoric monument. The Northern Irish capital, Belfast, is also located in county Antrim. Antrim houses the UNESCO World Heritage site of 1996, The Giant's Causeway. The Antrim area is packed of basalt colums that resulted from a volcanic eruption million years ago. The tallest colums are about 12 metres high. However Antrim offers a lot more to tourists. The 800 acres of the Glenarm Forest Park give visitors the opportunity to view waterfalls, native plants and beautiful, wild flowers. The Rathlin Island, with its three lighthouses, is also worth a visit.
